This assignment will serve as your Unit 1 test. It is worth 60 points and will be due next Thursday September 1. Follow the rubric or I have it broken down for you even simpler on the 2nd page. The 2nd page shows exactly what your paper should look like. I will also be grading your grammar and spelling. Please do not write this paper like you text or use facebook. Since this serves in the place of your Unit 1 test I will grade this paper extensively. If you have any questions feel free to come see me after class or before/after school.
This assignment is what we will do for the first day of budgeting. I will go through the correct way to budget and talk about the two types of expenses you incurr each month and show you where each item falls within the budget. A tip to remember: When you add all your expenses together it should always always equal your income.
Once you learn how to budget you will use this assignment to see what your life will be like making the income of the job you choose. You will figure up how much your monthly payments will be if you rent a house or buy, your monthly vehicle payments, insurance, groceries, student loans, etc. Again, your expenses should always equal your income.
This assignment is the first one where you have to create this budget from scratch. You need to have it look exactly like the one we did in class together. Don't forget that when you add all her expenses up it should equal your total income. Read the scenario and then create the budget.
There are 3 parts to this assignment. The first part you should visit www.irs.gov click on site map at the top and find the answers. If it helps you can use the search bar too. The second section you should use the glossary link provided or another financial dictionary to define the terms. The third section you need to click on where it says "site". Read the items in the middle and drag them to either taxable or nontaxable side. When you get them all correct, go back to your assignment and which category they went into. Net Worth: Below I have posted a video explaining what Net Worth is if you missed today's (Wed/Thurs 9/14-9/15) class. Watch the video and then attempt to to the assignment "Net Worth Statements".
I found this website called LifeSmarts and they have a Personal Finance Glossary that gives you all kinds of terms and definitions for each. We will use most if not all of the terms in class. If there's an assignment where you need help understanding a term go here: http://lifesmarts.org/index.php?page=personal_finance_glossary
